Hai Phong is one of the most important Southeastern Vietnam’s connections

Hai Phong is the third largest city in Vietnam and it is North Vietnam biggest port city. Boosting of one of Vietnam’s most important deep seaports, Hai Phong is well positioned as the gateway between China and Vietnam. The increasing strategic importance of Hai Phong’s deep seaport in international
maritime trade is reflected in the recent ramp up in Hai Phong infrastructure development by the Vietnam government.

Some of the key infrastructure developments includethe new Hanoi-Hai Phong Highway, expansion of the domestic Hai Phong Cat Bi Airport (10km
away from ACG City) in to an international airport with improved connectivity with the rest of Asia, the Ha Long-Hai Phong Highway, as well as the construction of the new Lach Huyen Port.

Hai Phong absorbs over US$12 billion of investment. As of September 12, Hai Phong attracted over US$2.7 billion of FDI, fives times higher than the same period last year, making it the leading FDI recipient in Viet Nam. The port city was hailed for its effort to transform from brown to green economy by moving shipbuilding and cement factories from central areas to outskirts.
